St. Michaels Winery

St. Michaels Winery is located in St. Michaels, Maryland on the Eastern Shore. They are known as a boutique and destination winery. St. Michaels is a vacation destination itself where you can walk around, pop into a bunch of cute shops and eat great seafood at a lot of fantastic restaurants. The winery's tasting room matches the vibe and is bright and beachy. The tasting room has been renovated since we were last there but the walls were blue and yellow and wall décor was nautical. We had the pleasure of visiting years ago, celebrating one of Bri's birthdays. St. Michaels is such a fun, relaxing town to visit and the winery was certainly a highlight. They are known for their sweet wines, Gollywobblers and their chocolate zin. But they also make a handful of dry white wines, including our recent favorite, Long Splice. We did a bottle review podcast on that so check it out. It is a white blend of 27% chardonnay and 73% seyval blanc. Long Splice was nautically named after one of the most difficult nautical splices to make, for the log canoe, which is only raced in the Chesapeake Bay. The log canoe is a unique sail boat with long masts, large sails and narrow form. It must be balanced by crew members clammering onto 15-foot board off the boat’s side. That story is on the  back of the bottle and really captures St. Michaels Winery's essence and passion for where they are located. They attend festivals if you can't get out to the Eastern Shore, we last saw them at Wine in the Woods. You can also usually find some of the Gollywobblers at local liquor stores.
