Harford Winery
Harford Winery is located in Harford County in Forest Hill, Maryland. Owned by Teresa and Kevin Mooney. Their son, Brent, also works at the winery. They opened to the public in 2009, started the Gunpowder Wine Trail and grow some of their own grapes like merlot and traminette. They also purchase some grapes from other growers. This is a winery that has a little something for everyone. From off-dry to sweet whites, to dry to sweet reds, wine slushies, port-style wines and even liquor like cucumber gin, brandy and limoncello. Most popular was probably the Peach Kissed which is also great in the slushies and a sweet wine. Our favorites are merlot and cabernet franc. We did the podcast on the merlot. It had aromas of fig, plum, black currant, leather and oregano. On the palate was plum, cherry and a slight, coffee finish. The traminette is always interesting. It is off-dry, floral on the nose and then citrusy on the palate. Right after things started to open back up after the pandemic, Bri volunteered her time at Harford for a few months. Working some of their popular monthly music Saturdays, she poured wine flights and glasses for guests and helped clean up at the end of the night. It doesn't look like they are doing that event anymore but they do still have their popular car cruises, yoga in the vineyard and Sunday Funday events. This a great, chill winery to visit and spend time inside or even outside on a nice day.
