Friday’s Creek Winery
Friday's Creek Winery is located in Owings, Maryland and owned by Frank J. Cleary. All grapes are estate grown on their property and their tasting room is inside a large, rustic barn. You can do a live tasting at their bar or sit and enjoy a glass or bottle at one of the tables inside. They grow and make wine from grapes like chardonel, cayuga, traminette and cabernet franc. Over the years, they have hosted weddings and private events on their property. Frank spent 60 years building new homes and working in construction, then in the mid 1990's Frank J. Cleary Custom Builder purchased his 40-acre farm in Calvert County, which followed Friday's Creek to the Patuxent River. In the early 2000's 100 cabernet franc grapes were planted. The construction company remodeled the barn into a tasting room and additional grapes like barbera and seyval blanc were planted. Fast forward 19 years to 2025 and you will see the winery they are today. We visited this winery years ago and got back for an updated tasting in June 2025. Frank poured us 4 wines, our favorite of them being the cabernet franc. It just grows so well in Maryland. It had some age on it so we got aromas of leather and cocoa and dried cherries on the palate. A great updated visit!
