Chesapeake Manor Vineyard
Chesapeake Manor Vineyard is located in Stevensville, Maryland and is one of the State's newest wineries. Owners, Darcy and Selvin, planted their vineyard in 2018 which boasts an impressive 30 acres. Their first vintages were ready in 2023 and include gruner veltliner, babera and chamboucin grapes. They have already won a best in class award at the Maryland Governor's Cup for their sparkling chambourcin! We had the please of trying it at the 2025 Maryland Wine Festival. It was bright, refreshing and full of tart, jammy, red fruit. The vineyard and tasting room are fully open and ready for visitors. Kent Island's third winery is right on the water with a breathtaking view from their large lawn. Ordering your flights in the tasting room and carrying them down past the vines to pick your lawn chair or picnic table to enjoy the view is definitely the thing to do at this winery. We certainly did and were overcome with this immediate feeling of calm as soon as we sat down. The lawn is a perfect venue for concerts and festivals and we hear some of them may be happening in the near future. Our favorite wine from our tasting was probably the barbera rose. It had lovely notes of watermelon, cherry and lime. The gruner veltliner had aromas of pear, lemon and banana. The chambourcin had aromas of cinnamon, pepper, rose and vanilla with cherry on the palate. The complimentary breadstick crackers were nice little palate cleansers between wines and the gator running back and forth was helping transport guests and wine from the tasting room to the lawn. We had a great chat with the staff and owners on the way out. The winery offers something for everyone with popular mimosas and wine slushies. Food trucks frequent the winery and more wine releases are coming in the fall, including a fuller-bodied chambourcin, cabernet franc, barbera and an apple brandy dessert wine. Great things are already happening at this winery and we are excited for all that is on the horizon!
