Running Hare Vineyard

Running Hare Vineyard is located in Frederick, Maryland. Inspired by the vineyards of southern France, their intent is to "recreate memories of the gentle hills of France, the beauty of Tuscany and the feel of Napa. The property is quite large and includes a building that looks like a villa right out of Italy. Due to the space, they are also a venue for events and weddings. There is a pavilion with a bar for wine tasting, a lawn and patio with tables and chairs, a stage usually hosting bands and musicians and even a biergarten. From their popular wine slushies, long list of wines of varying sweetness levels and beer, there really is something for everyone. We enjoyed a visit in June 2025. We ordered a flight each, one with dry reds and one with dry whites. Our favorites were the vidal blanc and The Magician. The vidal was very bright and citrusy with nice notes of grapefruit. The Magician was a red blend aged in French and American oak. It had aromas of vanilla, cinnamon and cocoa with dark cherry on the palate and a nice finish. We have been enjoying their wines at festivals for years and love that we finally got to the winery for the full experience. We got delicious, affordable pizzas from The Hungry Hare food truck and listened to live music from Monkey Business. A fabulous way to spend a Friday night!
