Celebration Cellars Winery

Celebration Cellars Winery is located in Frederick, Maryland. They are a winery and a bed & breakfast so you can make a weekend out of a visit. The tasting room also boasts great views of Catoctin Mountain, with a bottom level with a bar for tasting and an upper level deck with seating overlooking the hills. It is owned by Heather and Mike and it is named for celebrating all of life's most important moments. Their logo is a hummingbird which is a symbol for joy. Their website offers a virtual tour and gives a sneak peak to the tasting room and the view so you can get a feel for it before you get out for a visit. The winery has been around since 2011 and we were excited to get out for our visit in 2024. We ordered our flights at the bar on the first floor and sat out on the bottom level patio enjoying the gorgeous day and the wines as we  tasted through. Our favorite was their newly released, 2022 Serenata. It was a blend that was, interestingly, predominately sangiovese. Not a lot of Maryland wineries are growing the grape that typically grows in Tuscany in Italy. The Serenata was medium plus acid and had a lingering finish. We got complex aromas of pepper, jalapeno, sundried tomato, clay pot and thyme. The fruit was red cherry and cranberry and from the oak aging, the tannins were mellow. We grabbed a lovely flute on the way out, in addition to our wine, and were able to add that glass to our collection. Cheers to Celebration!
